I drove to Orlando spent a few days at a resort there and thn drove back home. As I was driving I decided it was time to start my own blog. In the car all by myself, I had all kinds of ideas spinning in my head for things I could blog about. But after a couple days to get caught up on my laundry etc after being gone, I can't seem to find those ideas. They are just out of reach somewhere in the back of my head. So I thought I'd post a few pics from my trip instead.

I love visiting Florida! I've visited during just about every season besides Hurricane season and I always feel so alive and energized by the sunshine and the tropical feel. One of my favorite times of year to visit is during the time between Christmas and New Years Day. I can still see all the holiday decorations, but haven't missed spending Christmas with all the Grands.
Here is one of my favorite sites to see at Christmas.

The resort we were staying at had a few of these beautiful yellow flowering trees. Being a midwestern girl I had never seen them before and was enthralled by their vivid yellow colors.

I even got a closeup of the flowers in hopes that someday I can find someone to help me identify this tree. (You know in case I might ever need to plant one in a yard in Florida someday in my far off future). Now that I am looking at it I wonder if its some kind of azalea that has gotten large and been pruned into a tree form.

When I took this pic. I was thinking how cute it would be to have my Grands in the shot about where the support pillar for the hand railing is. I kept thinking about them throughout the whole trip.

This was a view as I walked to the pool area.

One day as I was walking to the pool I noticed a paver pathway in some of the landscaping and decided to follow that little inobtrusive path and see what I could see. Notice even here you can see a few branches of the yellow flowering tree poking out.

This is another shot of what I found as I walked that little path to the wateras edge.

Then I had to turn aroiund and go back to the main pathway. As I got to sidewalk I caught a flicker of movement near my feet. I looked down and was able to see 4 little lizards that had been sunning themselves on the sunwarmed sidewalk. I had disturbed them and couldn't seem to get a pick of the three of them together though.

This was one of my views as I lounged by the pool one afternoon.

I'm not sure how well you can see them but one afternoon a family of ducks felt comfortable enought to come for a swim in the pool. I had a great shot all lined up and then some pre-teen boys noticed them and went charging their way. I only managed to get the ducks as the got ready to leave the pool.

I forgot to mention that I had driven down to hang out with Hubby while he was in Orlando for a business conference. So I had the luxurious life of lounging by the pool, while he was inside in the conference for most of the day. Each evening I would show him the pics that I had taken during the day. He made some comment about wanting to see a pic of my by the pool. So, in my orneryness I took the following pic for him. Later in the day I did a quick snapshot of myself in my swimsuit by the pool for him too. But I let him think this was all of me he was going to see 1st.

Once I get this blogging thing figured out better I'll get more on track with the stuff I really want ed to talk about when I started a blog. But you know ... as per my title ... a tropical vacation is definitely one of those things that stirs my passions.

Everything has a beginning

This is my beginning. The 1st day I enter the world of blogging. Well, that statement isn't totally correct. I've been popping in and out of other peoples blogs for some time. But the posting part is all new to me.

As I've read the posts of others I have been inspired to do more. I've followed blogs that were centered around crafting, homemaking, or fashion. Each inspired me to step beyond my own comfort zone just a bit and try something different.

I thrive on creativity and being around people and yet am trying to make a go of working from home right now in this economy. After working in retail management for the last several years I am seriously missing the interaction of working with and around different people. I'm hoping that in time this blog helps me to find a way to not only document some of my creations, but also find a new way to connect with people.
